Maintenance Technician
About the role
Keluna Home Services provides repair, maintenance, and make-ready services for residential homes and furnished rental properties. The Maintenance Technician handles hands-on repair and restoration work — from service calls to full make-readies — finished to a standard a paying client or guest will photograph.
What you’ll do
- Repair interior damage: drywall patch and texture, trim and baseboard, doors, door frames, thresholds, cabinets, countertops, and hardware
- Painting: touch-up, cut-in, full room repaints, staining and sealing
- Flooring repairs: LVP/laminate plank replacement, tile and grout repair, subfloor and transition strips, carpet patching
- Bathroom and kitchen repairs: vanities, sinks, faucets, toilets, tub/shower surrounds, caulking and re-grouting, garbage disposals
- Light plumbing and electrical within skill level: supply lines, P-traps, outlets, switches, fixtures, ceiling fans (licensed vendors called in when required)
- Exterior work: siding and soffit repair, fascia, decks and steps, railings, gutters, fencing, gates, exterior doors and locks
- Water damage repair: locate the source, dry out, replace damaged material, prevent recurrence (mold-conscious work practices)
- Make-ready turns: punch-list completion, appliance install, furniture and TV/shelf mounting, blinds and curtain rods
- Estimate materials, pick up supplies, keep receipts and job photos organized
- Document every job: before/after photos, what was found, what was done, parts used
- Flag safety issues immediately — smoke/CO detectors, trip hazards, water intrusion, electrical concerns
What you need
- 3+ years of home repair, remodeling, make-ready, or general handyman experience
- Solid drywall, paint, and carpentry finish skills — clean work that doesn’t need to be redone
- Own hand and power tools; comfortable working independently from a work order with a photo standard
- Valid driver’s license, reliable truck or vehicle capable of hauling materials, clean driving record
- Smartphone use for work orders, photos, and status updates
- Able to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor heat/cold
- Professional and courteous — some work happens while clients or guests are on site
- Must pass a background check
- Location: Montgomery, AL (Occasional travel to Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL as needed)
Nice to have
- Tile setting, cabinet install, or flooring specialty experience
- Basic HVAC or appliance repair knowledge
- Experience with short-term rental / property management turnovers
- Own trailer or ability to haul debris
Schedule & benefits
- Monday–Friday, occasional weekend work during heavy turn or renovation periods
- Steady year-round work across a large portfolio of properties — no slow-season layoffs
- Mileage or vehicle allowance, materials account, paid time off
To apply: send a short summary of your experience, your availability, and 3–5 photos of past work to alaina@kelunaservices.com
Home Repair Tradesman — Carpentry / Drywall / Paint
We are hiring skilled tradesmen in three areas: exterior/interior trim carpentry, drywall repair and finishing, and interior/exterior painting.
You only need to be proficient in one of the three to apply. If you’re strong in two or all three, tell us — multi-trade technicians are what we’re ultimately building toward and it directly increases your pay rate. Depth in one trade beats being average at all three, so apply for what you actually do well.
About the work
Keluna Home Services repairs and maintains older residential homes and furnished rental properties — repair and restoration work, not new construction. Two things define the job:
- You have to match what’s already there. Existing trim profiles, siding courses, wall and ceiling textures, colors and sheens. A finished repair should be impossible to find.
- Most homes are occupied and furnished. Floors, furniture, and belongings get protected, dust and overspray get contained, and the home is left livable at the end of every day. Cleanliness is part of the trade here, not an afterthought.
TRACK 1 — TRIM CARPENTRY (INTERIOR & EXTERIOR)
- Interior trim: baseboard, casing, crown, chair rail, window and door trim — repair, replace, and match existing profiles
- Doors and windows: jambs, thresholds, stops, sills, trim-outs, hardware fitting
- Exterior trim: corner boards, frieze, water table, rake and drip edge, porches, columns
- Fascia and soffit repair and replacement, including rotted and water-damaged sections
- Dormer trim and siding, roofline and gable-end repairs, tying into flashing (coordinating with roofers where required)
- Siding repair and replacement — wood, hardboard, fiber cement, vinyl — blended into existing courses
- Rot repair: find the water source, remove affected material, rebuild so it doesn’t come back
- Decks, steps, railings, gates, exterior doors
- Leave repairs paint-ready: caulked, filled, sanded, primed as required
TRACK 2 — DRYWALL REPAIR & FINISH
- Interior wall and ceiling repair: cut out, back and brace, patch, tape, float, finish
- Water intrusion and stain repair — confirm the source is corrected, remove wet and stained material, treat and seal, rebuild
- Texture matching: knockdown, orange peel, splatter, skip trowel, popcorn/acoustic ceilings, hand-applied, and smooth Level 5
- Ceiling repairs around fixtures, vents, and access points
- Nail pops, cracks, settling seams, corner bead damage, impact holes, failed prior repairs
- Prime patches so paint lays flat with no flashing
- Dust control: plastic and zip walls, floor and furniture protection, vacuum sanding where possible
TRACK 3 — PAINTING (INTERIOR & EXTERIOR)
- Interior walls, textured and non-textured ceilings, trim, doors, casing, cabinets
- Touch-ups and spot repairs that blend with no flash or patch halos — matching color, sheen, and texture
- Stain-blocking and sealing water-stained ceilings and walls with the correct primer for the substrate
- Exterior siding, trim, fascia, soffit, dormers and profiles, porches, columns, railings, exterior doors
- Full prep: scrape, sand, fill, caulk, prime, mask — prep quality is judged, not just the topcoat
- Brush, roll, and spray with back-rolling where required; stain and seal wood
- Track colors, sheens, and products per property so future touch-ups match
Requirements (all tracks)
- 3+ years of professional experience and demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the three tracks above
- Proven ability to match existing work on older homes — profiles, textures, colors, and sheens
- Comfortable and safe working at height on ladders and rooflines (carpentry and paint tracks)
- Own hand tools for your trade; company provides specialty equipment
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle (truck or ability to haul materials for the carpentry track)
- Smartphone use — all jobs are assigned and documented in Jobber with before/after photos, and status is reported in Slack
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor heat, cold, and humidity
- Professional and courteous around occupants; strong focus on cleanliness and protecting furnished homes
- Report rot, active leaks, mold-suspect conditions, and safety issues to the Maintenance Manager instead of covering them up
- Must pass a background check and driving-record check
- Location: Montgomery, AL (Occasional travel to Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL as needed)
Pay is based on
- Depth and quality of work in your primary trade
- Number of the three trades you can perform at a professional level — two or three raises your rate
- Reliability, documentation, and how clean you leave an occupied home
Nice to have
- Fiber cement (HardiePlank) and historic/older-home restoration experience
- Plaster repair experience
- EPA RRP lead-safe certification
- Cabinet and trim spray finishing
- Water-mitigation or restoration background
- Own trailer or ability to haul debris
Schedule & benefits
- Monday–Friday, occasional weekend work during heavy repair periods
- Steady year-round work across a large portfolio of properties — no slow-season layoffs
- Mileage or vehicle allowance, materials account, paid time off
To apply: tell us which of the three trades you’re proficient in (and which others you can do), your years of experience, your availability, and send 3–5 photos of your past work to alaina@kelunaservices.com
